Sam took up tennis at the age of eight after a friend gave her a tennis racquet for Christmas. She used to hit at the local courts with her brother, Daniel. He soon realised she had above-average ability and convinced their parents, Diane and Tony, to give Sam coaching lessons. She went away on her first overseas trip at the age of 13, competing in the World Youth Cup in Jakarta, Indonesia. At 14 she joined the Queensland Academy of Sport (QAS) under Geoff Masters and in 2001, when she was 16, Sam joined the Australian Institute of Sport tennis program.     Twin brothers, Bob and Mike Bryan further cemented their place in tennis history Sunday when they recorded their 100th career men’s tennis doubles victory en route to their fifth career US Open title. It was also the duo’s 16th career Grand Slam tournament victory.

    It has been undoubtedly the best season of Bob and Mike Bryan’s career and it just got even better. The twin brothers won the BNP Paribas Masters in Paris for the third time in their career. This year the duo has played in 20 doubles tournaments,, making finals in 14 of them. Even more impressive, out of the 14 finals, The Brothers have taken home 11 titles. Following their inspiring 2012 Olympic gold medal win in London, the Bryan Brothers have won titles in 2013 at Wimbledon, The Australian Open, The French Open, Indian Wells, Madrid, Rome, Cincinnati, Paris, Memphis, Queens and Sydney.

    Samantha Stosur has had a long and successful career in the sport of professional tennis. Anyone who knows the story of Stosur will easily point out that the 2011 US Open was without a doubt her most successful and career defining moment. Stosur ousted the best player in the world, Serena Williams in the final at Flushing Meadow to shock the world and collect her first, and only Grand Slam tournament title.
