    “Paris-Roubaix? It would be fantastic to win it after having won the GP E3, Ghent Wevelgem and the Tour of Flanders. I am going to try. It is a race that suits me better than the Tour of Flanders.” That was what Belgian Tom Boonen had to say following his Tour of Flanders victory in early April. The 31-year-old Oakley cyclist must have been looking into a crystal ball because he dominated the Paris-Roubaix for the fourth time in his career. Adding to his 2005, 2008 and 2009 titles, Boonen rode without teammates or competitors for 50km out of the 257.5km race. Niki Terpstra, Boonen’s teammate attacked the field with him at 56km, but Boonen, sporting his Oakley RadarLock sunglasses, was much too fast for him or anyone else to keep up.

    Spaniard Samuel Sanchez overtook fellow Oakley cycling teammate Joaquin Rodriguez to secure the overall Tour of Basque Country title on his home turf. Sanchez, coming off a huge 3rd stage, 102 mile win a few days prior, overtook a nine second deficit on the final day to claim the overall first place spot.

    In front of a home crowd, Belgian Oakley cyclist Tom Boonen held off a duo of Italian riders to claim the 2012 Tour of Flanders victory. Boonen tied a record for total victories at the Belgian event, winning his third Tour of Flanders title. Following up on wins in 2005 and 2006, Boonen joined elite company all while wearing the soon to debut Oakley RadarLock sunglasses. This was the first cycling victory by any athlete wearing the highly anticipated performance glass.
