Although a majority of her accolades last season came away from the track (including her coronation as AOL sports Hottest Athletes (a designation earned at the expense of New England Patriot’s quarterback Tom Brady), the 25-year-old daughter of drag racing icon John Force showed enough promise at the wheel of the Castrol GTXAA® Ford Mustang to win the Automobile Club of Southern California’s Road to the Future Award as the Rookie-of-the-Year in the NHRA POWERade pro series. Jeg Coughlin is blazing his way into the ranks of the greatest NHRA drivers of all time. But although it’s been no easy task, he’s making it look easy. The long-time Oakley drag racer rocketed to his fifth Pro Stock Championship in early November, tallying his fourth Auto Club NHRA Pomona event victory on the way. “In this day and age, it is so tough to win out here,” Jeg said. “We’ve seen a lot of races won and lost by just a few thousandths of a second. I think this is one of the tightest, and one of the most intense championships I’ve ever won. This ranks right up there with 2007 when we had the two cuts to the Countdown to One in the first year of our playoffs.” Obviously, he’s no stranger to success. Taking his place as the eighth driver in NHRA history to claim five pro series crowns, 25,000 Southern California fans witnessed Jeg add to his illustrious list of triumphs throughout the years.

But for Jeg Coughlin Jr., who instantaneously was catapulted into contention for his fifth Pro Stock Championship with his victory at Concord, every win is crucial…and appreciated. “Being the first round of the Countdown, to get a win was amazing,” said Jeg, following his 55th career Pro Stock triumph. "We had a fast car, kept lane choice all the way through the final until Jason outran us. Fortunately, we were able to get a little head start. I was able to get him on the Tree a bit and pull off this huge, huge win.”
