Posted about 2 years ago by Andrew De Lara

Clearing a World Record 37 feet in ‘Moto X Step Up’ was absolutely epic…in 2011, that is. The previous high mark was absolutely detonated on Friday night as Oakley Freestyle Motocross Star, Ronnie Renner, charged through an ultra dramatic 11 rounds of jumping to clear 47 feet for the glorious Gold medal. He successfully endured a head-to-head war with gravity and a determined Matt Buyten, who finally hit the bar at 46 feet.

  • Kiwi Airborne: FMX Star Levi Sherwood Returns to X Games in Los Angeles

Posted about 2 years ago by Andrew De Lara

Brace yourselves, X Games fans. Levi Sherwood is back. Oakley’s Kiwi (New Zealand native) Freestyle Motocross star is making his big return to Summer X Games in Los Angeles after sitting out a couple years due to a nasty injury. His last MotoX Freestyle final came in 2009 – his ‘rookie’ season – when he charged onto the scene in grand fashion, grabbing a silver medal behind the legendary Travis Pastrana himself. All at the ripe old age of 17. With stiff competition this year, the Final, set to begin at 6:30 p.m. Pacific (Thursday, June 28) will see Levi throwing down big time in a year when he claimed the Red Bull X Fighters opener in Dubai just a few months ago.

  • Wine Country: NASCAR Star Clint Bowyer Claims Sonoma Victory

Posted about 2 years ago by Andrew De Lara

Clint Bowyer’s roots are in Motocross. Perhaps it shouldn’t be a surprise that Oakley’s NASCAR Star owned a road course more reminiscent of an MX race than the typical oval. But the Kansas native still didn’t feel right being in front of the pack en route to a grand victory at the Toyota/Save Mart 350 in Sonoma this past weekend. “You know you’re close on fuel, you’ve got two champions behind you, and you know you have no business leading,” Clint said, rocking his Oakley eyewear, racing fire suit, gloves, boots and base layer. “But we had a really good car.”

  • 'Brake Through': NHRA Star Tony Schumacher Smashes Winless Streak in Bristol, Honors U.S. Army Birthday

Posted about 2 years ago by Andrew De Lara

There was no better time for Tony Schumacher to detonate his winless streak. Oakley’s NHRA racing star – on the 237th anniversary of the U.S. Army’s birth – claimed a resounding victory at the Thunder Valley Nationals at Bristol, effectively honoring one of his major sponsors with a triumph over Doug Kalitta in the Final. The result, coming as a result to a superior reaction to the green light at .023 of a second (compared to Kalitta’s .065), also served as a present of sorts for his family on Father’s Day.

The resounding win elevates him further in the season standings, extending his lead to 54 points over Mike Alessi. The triumph also racks up his 17th overall – rendering Ryan No. 6 all-time in overall motocross victories.

  • Texas Drift: IndyCar Star Justin Wilson Claims Surprise Win at Firestone 550

Posted over 2 years ago by Andrew De Lara

Count on Texas to deliver big story lines and big action. After a race that resembled more of a drift contest than an IndyCar event, Oakley star Justin Wilson emerged triumphant at the Firestone 550 following a series of abnormally dramatic events and an abundance of crashes on track. Graham Rahal was more than on his way to cruising to victory after Lap 200, when he took the lead. Fast-forward to less than two laps to go in the race and Justin made the final pass to victory after Rahal’s slam into the Turn 4 wall just a few laps before.

It had only been a week since Scott Dixon witnessed his teammate’s gloriously emotional victory at the Indy 500.
