Ryan Dungey is within striking distance. With just two rounds and four motos remaining, Dungey made another major jump in the 450 Class title fight by earning his third win in the last four rounds at the Red Bull Unadilla National, closing to within single digits of his Oakley teammate Ken Roczen atop the standings. “It was an awesome day. We just wanted to make the most of the day and not get sidetracked [with the championship],” Dungey said. “There’s a lot of racing left still with two rounds to go, but things are going good. It feels great to get another overall, but I made it hard on myself in the second moto and let those guys [Tomac and Canard] get away. At times he’s made it look easy, dominating the field (Jerez); other times he’s looked like it wasn’t his day, only to shock us all with late race heroics (Mugello and Catalonia). This weekend at the Indianapolis Grand Prix at the world famous Brickyard, the reigning world champ opted for something that feel in-between those two categories.

Scott Dixon’s Mid-Ohio victory on Saturday was impressive for a variety of reasons; namely being that it was his fifth win at the natural terrain road course in the past eight years. Although Dixon has made a habit of winning on this particular racetrack, including three in the past four years, the New Zealander didn’t make it easy on himself this time around. After spinning out in qualifying, Dixon was forced to start the race in the very back of the field. With his triumph, he became the first person to win the race at this track after starting last.
