Teemu Selanne

Nicknamed “The Finnish Flash,” Teemu Selanne is a professional ice hockey right winger and is currently playing for the Anaheim Ducks, a team with which he won a Stanley Cup in 2007. In 2008, Teemu held the Ducks’ record for career hat tricks and power-play goals. He is the all-time points leader in men’s Olympic ice hockey with 38 points in 31 games. On March 21, 2010, Selanne scored his 600th career NHL goal against the Colorado Avalanche on goalie Craig Anderson putting him 1 goal behind Jari Kurri’s Finnish record of 601. With that all-star line up in the archives of basically every Kings record in the books, you’d think the franchise would have a sea of Stanley Cup banners hanging from the rafters of the Staples Center. If you were to ask any Kings fan, they’d tell you the same; it was about time to bring the Stanley Cup to Los Angeles. Kings fans were finally rewarded for their patience this season as their team secured the most coveted prize in all of hockey. Beating the New Jersey Devils in six games, the Los Angeles Kings became the 2011-2012 Stanley Cup Champions.
